The expression on this
little owl pillow’s face is saying something and you must pay attention. It’s
almost like a puppy saying “you don’t have to go to work, stay home with me”. $18
at mymimi.
For me, tiger balm is one of those familiar scents from childhood. Whenever I had a bruise or a sore muscle, my mother would hand me the little jar of tiger balm. Sometimes I would secretly sniff the jar like an addict. Am I crazy to think it's a sexy scent? I guess it's a bit like being turned on by Bengay. Anyway, this wood, tiger-shaped toy made with real tiger balm tins on the outside is super cool. It's really a work of art. $34 at Loran Scruggs
Amazing ceramic talent is evident by artist Stepanka
Horalkova. This is a porcelain
“wall pillow” that hangs on a nail. It’s a little over 3 x 5 inches and at
her site you can see how she displays several together to make quite a
statement. Fantastic. $49 at Stepanka.
As many people believe Lucille Ball is an icon, here she is
depicted as a Saint
on a Meditation Candle. Why not? I saw Vicki Berndt’s work for the first
time a week ago at a show and I have to say I was really impressed by her
creative ideas in doing these candles. They were somewhat silly but at the same
time thoughtful. See her website for all of the other candles and offerings she
has for sale. You’ll be amazed as I was. $12 at Berndt Offerings.
This is an 8 x 10 digitally created image of what would be
the front box packaging of a tin Rayvon Raygun.
It’s so colorful and vibrant. I could see a pair of these (and they come in
other styles/colors) in a living room for all to see. $20 at John W. Golden.
At first it looked like beans growing from an apple, but it's really a heart-shaped planter. It's so sweet looking that I had to post it, and what's even sweeter, is that the bean pods say "i love you" on them when they grow. Perfect little "secret message" to the one you love. $9.99 at Mod Cloth
These oversized
(sized from 4 to 6 inches) buttons would be fantastic to hang on the wall for
an unexpected flair. They come in black, silver, and pewter. Fashionistas to
sewers would fall head over heals for these cuties. $34.99 for a set of 5 at
Mod Cloth.
I love Tim Burton's book The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories, and if you've read it, too, you're bound to be as excited as I am by the collection of toys, mugs and cards made of the characters found in the book. My favorite is the Tragic Thoughts Light Up Journal. This blank journal features the Pin Cushion Queen on the cover. When you hit the "on" button, the Queen's jeweled pins light up. If you're in NY, be sure to visit MOMA's Tim Burton exhibition that runs from now through April 26, 2010.
I love cheese. All of it; hard, crumbly, runny, stinky. I also love fart jokes, but I'll save that for another day. Each colorful knife is made specifically for the type of cheese it goes with. Four in a set: Hard, Soft, Medium, and Crumbly. YUM! $19.95 at Heliotrope.
What to get the person who has everything? This butter dish is quirky and functional (soft butter spreads so much better, don'tcha know!). Made of glazed porcelain and measuring 9" long by 5" high, this is one shoe you'll never want to take off the table! $64.00 at Fred Flare.
This funky robot has the very important job of being a wine
rack and conversation piece all in one. If only it could pull out the
requested bottle, open it, and give it a pour as well. $39.50 at Paper Doll
Wood Shop.
These pot latch pot hangers are super handy because they allow you to easily hang a potted plant (up to 30 lbs) on any vertical surface. Great for small spaces! $9.95 for a 3-pack at Vat 19
I really need one of these and if you are a photographer,
videographer, or use a rifle scope (uh hum), so you might also. It’s a compact
lens cleaning system and uses no liquid, so no mess. Go check it out. Only
$13.50 at The Spoon Sisters.
It’s the simplicity and a dash of color on a basic doorstop
of untreated European oak that keeps drawing me back to this design by areawear.
Available in 5 colors, each $15 at IF+D.
I love this cute little garlic shape vintage vase. It would be cute as a Halloween decoration or for flowers and buds in the spring. $28 at Good Eye Vintage.
This is a really cool concept. An elaborate looking frame
that is super lightweight and it can be taped, put up with magnets or even
pinned with push pins (as shown) onto a surface. So you can have the beautiful
décor you want, even in your cubicle at work! The frames
come in white, black, and clear and are $28 at Mollaspace.
A brush to be used on anything and everything, but your
teeth. I love this tooth brush
with one “gold tooth”. It reminds me of the “nail” brush I posted a couple
weeks back and it’s made by the same blind artisans in Berlin. It would be a good discussion
starter if kept in your guest bathroom.$80 at Curiosity Shoppe.
