I got an email from the folks at OmmWriter about their software, and at first I was confused about what they were talking about. However, after a little digging, I discovered that OmmWriter is this terrific simple text processor that's ideal for writers because it helps you relax and concentrate. It creates on your desktop a zen-type experience - clean backgrounds, relaxing music (think chimes, birds chirping, stream and meditation-type music). You can change font size, music, and even what the keys sound like when you type. The program tells you it's best to wear headphones for the full experience. You save your work in .omm or .txt formats (but you can always paste your work into Word and add formatting there). To sum up, imagine textpad or notepad turned zen. Available for Mac and now also the PC.
There are two versions: Dana and Dana II. Dana is free. Dana II, a fuller version, costs money but it's up to you how much you want to spend ($4.11 is the minimum price). If you've never tried OmmWriter, it's suggested you try the free version first. For download info, visit OmmWriter. For a video on what Dana looks like and how it works, you can view a demo here. $free - $4.11 at OmmWriter
