Now I have seen everything. I found this shop as a featured seller on Etsy and then saw this Orange Butterphant brooch, yes it's an elephant with butterfly wings. I just think it's cool and unique and knowing that Candy Bandits recycles from thrift shops to make their art is also very cool. This brooch is $54 at Candy Bandits.

For those of you readers who were fans of Hella Good's bath products, you'll be happy to know that I'm making bath products again. Whoop-whoop! Yesterday, I launched a line of bath & body products including body washes, bubble bath salts and lotions under the name Whiffs of Whimsy, and I'd really love it if you join me on that journey.
As you probably can tell from the pic above, we're making a lot of foodie scents. I think I love bakery or comfort food scents because they've always been so comforting. It's the smell of my grandmother's kitchen - full of warmth and love. Right now our scents include pancakes & syrup, black licorice, banana cream pie, lemon meringue pie, and more. Check out our shop for all the details.
"Like" us on our Facebook page to get an awesome coupon code - or just to be our friend ;)

Apparently, I've got a geek groove going here, and feel that if I am going to call out so many Star Trek items, I should probably at least pay a little attention to that other sci-fi franchise that people seem to like. Here is it with a little steampunk twist. Wait...what? Steampunk Storm Trooper? Yes, please. $250 at The Mad Splatter.

Not everything geeky has to be...geeky. Sometimes it's subtle, or cool, or just plain fun. Sometimes your significant other won't complain as much when you bring home a geeky item because it still looks nice. This serving tray might just fit that bill. Glass mosaic in a wooden tray made with great craftsmanship, looks nice but still has that certain, je ne sais nerd. $120 at

The "Keep Calm and Carry On" logo has been used...a lot. Like a lot, a lot. But we still go back to it because it's simple, succinct and I think it means something to most people. We "get" it. But this...this I get even more. Possibly one of the best uses of what is quickly becoming a hackneyed phrase made new and fun for a certain breed of nerd. Love it. $25.69 at SciFiGeek Tees.

Some people love the statistics, keeping track of every little detail that happens on the field. Me, I love the nachos, but that's a whole different sort of score to keep. For the true baseball fan, this scorekeeping journal will set the records straight. Detailed score sheets and even a pocket for ticket stubs. I think this might be an ideal gift for the parent who loves to take the kids to baseball games. You could keep the records and create a family heirloom at the same time. Think of the memories that these records could generate. And think of the nachos you could eat while watching those games...$16.95 at The Spoon Sisters.

Perhaps you've seen this artist's (Jason Freeny) anatomy charts around. Showing the insides of cartoon and pop culture icons highlights the absurd proportions and physical abnormalities necessary to create an interesting character. How the heck could Hello Kitty's tiny neck support her giant head...if she were real, I mean...? Here we have the guts of the beloved Domo Kun. Disturbing and intriguing at the same time. Great art and great dissection of great art make for an interesting and fun limited edition print. $62 at Moist Production.

I was at Whole Foods yesterday and picked up a Chuao Firecracker chocolate bar because the description intrigued me - "Premium dark chocolate bar with chipotle, salt and popping candy." Whoa, did they say chipotle AND popping candy?! Dudes, this is the best chocolate bar ever. If you enjoy dark chocolate that's also unusual and awesome, this is it. The chocolate itself is delicious and then there's the heat mingled in that's just a tinge salty (a great salty-sweet combo) with the explosion of popping candy. It's like a fun fest in your mouth. Pure awesomeness. $4.99 (at Whole Foods) or $18 for three at Chuao.

I think we need to have a "Doctor Who" category here at Rare Bird Finds, because I could fill it up. Most Whovians seem to prefer the Dalek as the ultimate big bad for the good Doctor. Me, I like the Cybermen. As much as you can like humans that turn themselves into emotionless robots that is. And that's actually quite a lot. So I am always stoked to see some Cyberman action and these pillows are no exception. $30 at Diffraction Fiber.

Of all the vampire movies I've seen and books I've read, Nosferatu probably freaks me out more than any other. Count Orlck is terrifying and the old style filmmaking doesn't help his case at all.
