For the past few years, I've only worn vintage glasses. I love vintage frames because of the unique shapes and designs - they're quite the conversation starter! I stumbled upon this site on Etsy that sells vintage frames, and they have a nice collection that would also make fabulous sunglasses. $48 and up at Vintage 50's Eyewear

That second pair of frames is gorgeous. I wish I had a pair of those in my collection.

Hi Suze -
In general, there isn't much trouble. It's standard whenever you bring in your own frames that they say they can't guarantee them (i.e. in case they break during the fitting). My last vintage pair was COVERED in rhinestones (you can see them if you look at my pic (http://rarebirdfinds.typepad.com/rare_bird_finds/our-writers.html). The place doing my lens warned me that I might lose rhinestones because the lab has to heat the frames to make them pliable to fit the lens. However, they did a great job!

Do you have any issues with fitting lenses to old frames? I'd love to replace my prescription glasses with these schnazzy items, but wonder about how to get the right lenses.
