What do you make or design?
Bags, accessories, kid and baby items.
What made you decide to design the things that you do?
When I was young I got my first purse, an indian pouch. I tied it onto my belt and spent all my free time exploring in the woods and building forts with my twin sister. I would mostly put rocks and other nature finds into it. ( I often carried a hatchet on my belt too) Sometime later my 4th grade teacher taught us how to make indian pouches. I was blown away by this new discovery and this new ability. I guess it all stems from there, basically I love to make things to hold your things in!
Who inspires you?
Even if I was the only person on the planet, I would still want to design and make things. So ultimately I would have to say that God inspires me. I could scour the internet, books, and people for answers to my questions and dilemmas, but in the end I know I can find all my answers and my relief in him.
How would you describe yourself?
Quiet and a bit shy in public. Otherwise silly, creative, loving, helpful.
What’s the last book you read?
The Dream Giver, the book that inspired me to stop my job as a medical transcriptionist and open my own shop a little over one year ago (yes that was the last book I read...besides hundreds of children's books)
Are you a neat freak or creatively messy?
Both, I try to clean up in between projects and then it all gets crazy again.
What is one of your fondest memories?
Holding and seeing my son for the first time. He was wrapped so warmly in a white and blue hospital blanket. I noticed he had a swirl in his hair, right above his forehead. He still has it and I love to push his hair back to see it and know he is mine.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Cut-throat people.
If you could be a bird, what kind of bird would you be and why?
I think chickadees are cute. They are very acrobatic and are cheerful even on cold winter days. They hide each piece of food they find in a different spot and can remember thousands of hiding places.
